Question. Do you want to wind down for the rest of this year and fizzle out in December like a cheap sparkler? Or do you want to grab the rest of 2019 and squeeze every possible opportunity from it …heading into 2020 like an absolute boss?
Fizzlers be gone! I’m talking to the grabbers now!
Research tells us that 60% of us make New Year's resolutions but only about 8% are successful in achieving them.
Please don’t wait three months to make resolutions you won’t stick to.
Here are 3 things you can do right away to help make 2019 your best year yet.
Visualise what you’d like to see happening in your life by Christmas.
A financial goal, a personal change, a decision made? What steps do you have to make to help bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be? Write them down and take action. They don’t have to be huge actions. They can be small. For example, “I want to create a business plan.” That’s a huge task for anyone, with lots of steps. Your first step might be to take a friend for coffee and ask them to listen to your plans for your business. You’ll be surprised how all of the small steps on your list will slowly and surely close the gap and reach your goals.
Word of the quarter - what’s going to be the word that gets you there?
That one word that you can come back to when you’re flagging, doubting yourself and feeling overwhelmed? Let’s say its ‘confidence’. What actions can you hang on that word? A guided meditation on building confidence? Daily affirmations? Reminding yourself of a time in your life when your confidence helped someone – and how that made you feel? Stick that word on a post it and scatter it around so it’s visible to you every day.
Don’t put your life on hold until your reach your goal.
What I mean by that is, try to notice and be proud of all the changes you’re making and the good stuff that’s happening. Enjoy the journey. How many times have you thought to yourself “Once I lose the weight, I’ll be happy.” Or, once I’m on top of everything, I’ll be happy.” You’ve made the decision to make the last three months of the year really count. Harness that energy and positivity and be aware of all of the opportunities that are opening up to you. A gratitude journal is a great way to remind yourself on a daily basis that your hard work is paying off.
Now is the time to act. If you begin today, you’ll be raising a glass on New Year’s Eve with a sense of pride and achievement - and a huge fire in your belly for the year ahead.
If you’re like most people in this world who benefits from having someone in your life to help you achieve your goals, I’d love to help you.
“Laura will give you the time and space you need to process the decisions in front of you, to find the answers you need within yourself, and then make it achievable by breaking it down into doable steps.”
