Let me tell you about Emma, she came to me when she was feeling disillusioned with the job that she’d done for the last 20 years as a HR professional. She was good at it and highly respected. She was well paid and liked the people in her team – BUT – she also had a real flair for interior design, she loved the creative element, it was something she’d enjoyed since she’d been a child but she’d always thought it was ‘no way to make a living.’
She came to me when she’d decided to take a years sabbatical to try it out. She was all fired up and really keen to get going but didn’t know where to start on her own.
We spent some time bottoming out what success would look like for her at the end of the 12 months, things like, how much money she’d need to earn, what kind of clients she wanted to work with brands she’d like to approach. And as time went on we worked on project planning, confidence in pitches, increasing her rates and time management.
Needless to say, she didn’t go back to her HR job and is now working as an interior designer and Event Stylist full time.
